The last week of June, 2011 York county found the hit show ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition here in Etters, PA, where they surprised the Keefer family. Brian Keefer was seriously injured in 2008 and has been a quadriplegic ever since. Ty Pennington and his crew had plans to renovate and re-design the family home to make it more accessible for Brian, and to help him regain his independence. As they often do, the show planned a fundraiser to help the family with medical bills. One was held in Harrisburg, and on Friday June 24th, the other fundraiser was organized at the Sunken Gardens at Lauxmont Farms in Wrightsville. MICHAEL'S was extremely excited to have received the call to help. Staying with the "backyard barbeque" idea, we provided: pork BBQ sliders, teriyaki chicken skewers, fresh fruit kebabs, cheeses and fresh vegetables for the guests to munch on. Later in the evening, our chocolate fountain and ice-cream satisfied everyone's sweet tooth. The evening was full of food, drinks, and entertainment. But the main event came when the four designers working on the Keefer home arrived. Paul Dimeo, Tracy Hutson, Ed Sanders, and Jillian Harris encouraged the crowd to "dig Deep" and kept everyone's attention as they sang karaoke well into the night. This episode is scheduled to be the season premiere airing on September 25, 2011 at 8pm. We are all excited to see the finished house, as well as to hear how much money was raised to help the Keefer family (which has been kept a secret). MICHAEL'S is thrilled to have been able to play a part in this fantastic opportunity to give back.
